API 616 Section 5.4.4.3 The fuel co

API 616 Section 5.4.4.3 The fuel co

API 616 Section 5.4.4.3 The fuel co

(OP)
API 616 Section 5.4.4.3 The fuel control system shall include shutoff valve, separate from the fuel control valve that stops all fuel flow to the turbine on any shutdown condition and can not open until all permissive firing conditions are satisfied. The valve shall have a means for local and remote tripping and a local manual mechanical device for tripping.

Can someone tell me what the last statement refers to? I have seen fuel shutoff valves on turbine units but no local manual mechanical device for tripping. Is this something common on turbines?

RE: API 616 Section 5.4.4.3 The fuel co

I think it's refering to a push button that is physically (mechanically) connected to a valve in the safety oil system which when depressed will dump the oil and close the valve (no electrical control needed)

RE: API 616 Section 5.4.4.3 The fuel co

good observation. seems like it is not strictly followed everywhere. here too in my company frame-6 GE machine is have an actuated valve (of isolation and maintenance) located outside the enclosure of the turbine, but it is not having a local manual mechanical device for tripping.
