Feedmill Cooler

Feedmill Cooler

Feedmill Cooler

(OP)
Hello everyone

I would like to ask for help regarding a cooler whose purpose it to cool down the animal feed from 75 C to 35 C. The cooler has 2 exhaust fan

Cooler machine formula to use
〖(M〗_c)(〖Cp〗_c)(∆T)=(V)(ρ_a)(A_c)(〖Cp〗_a)(∆T_a)
M_c = mass flowrate of corn
Cp_c = specific heat of corn
V= velocity of input air in cooler
P_a = density of air
A_c= area of input duct

Above is the current formula that we would be using in order to determine the right inflow of animal feeds. We would like to find the right amount of inflow of animal feeds in order to make the process faster. I would like to ask if the formula has everything that we would be needed to consider.

Thanks in advance

RE: Feedmill Cooler

Your equation is just the heat balance, heat lost by the feed as it's cooled is picked up by the air.

What is the cooling process, is this a direct contact air system of the feed with the air?

RE: Feedmill Cooler

There is no change of moisture of the feed?

RE: Feedmill Cooler

Is this a chain belt cooler like a California Pellet Mill Cooler?
If it is you should be able to vary the speed of the belt and check and adjust the leaving temperature of the pellets .

The good engineer does not need to memorize every formula; he just needs to know where he can find them when he needs them. Old professor

The cooler uses 2 exhaust fan in order to cool the feeds. I heard that there is some type of formula that could calculate the cooling effect of those exhaust fan. is it any true?

RE: Feedmill Cooler

Have you looked at the documentation for your dryer? Have you asked the equipment supplier? I'd expect something like this to be more empirical and thus vendor specific.

RE: Feedmill Cooler

Hello,
You have what you need to calculate the corn flow. The right side of your equation will give the overall heat load. From this and the corn specific heat and its desired temperature change you can calculate the corn flow.
