HAZ - Area calculation

HAZ - Area calculation

HAZ - Area calculation

(OP)
Dear Guys

How can we calculate HAZ of a pipe based on thickness.

Thanks and regards
Jacob

RE: HAZ - Area calculation

Model an input heat flux from a welding arc, with the heat capacity and conductivity of the pipe metal (simply treated it might be in just a circular plate of the given thickness).

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it's not safe ... make it that way.

RE: HAZ - Area calculation

There is a formula in the Welding Handbook Volume 1, 7th ed (1976), chapter 3. ISBN 0871711265.
