radial hide button disappears

radial hide button disappears

Every now and then, my hide button on my radial selection disappears. I have no idea what causes this or how to bring it back. It always comes back on itself.

When the button is gone, I can still hide items via the normal button.

Any idea why this button disappears?

I would guess that there is a selection-combination that NX for some reason doesn't like to perform Hide on.
The next time it occurs, try press Escape ( = deselect all) and then try again.

RE: radial hide button disappears

If we're talking about the radial pop-up which appears when an object has already been selected, then yes, Toost may be correct in that performing a 'Hide' operation is not supported for that particular type of object. These pop-ups are what we call 'context sensitive' in that their content is dependent on the object(s) selected.

deselecting everything does not solve the problem. Often the only thing that works is rebooting NX (or sometimes after a while it just comes back).

I'm having trouble finding what causes the problem, which makes it harder to fix it I guess.
I've made sure on several occasions that context-sensitivity had nothing to do with it.

Unless something is actually selected, the 'Hide' option will never be available on the radial pop-up.

If you right click+hold on an unselected part it does. That's how I usually use it.

If I right click where there's no part I get a different radial all together (with option for wireframe etc).

I'm 99% sure I do the exact same thing when it does/does not show up and something else is causing it to disappear.

This particular radial popup works even when the icons doesn't display, ( such as quickly RMB-press-drag up or down beside the model to switch between shaded/ wireframe mode ) -does the Hide function still exist/work but the icon is "invisible" ? ( - press right mouse on top of an object and drag-down-release before the icons show)

The button's not invisible, it doesn't work.
The ctrl+B command (hide) still works.

Thanks for your effort by the way. I really appreciate your help!

As I stated, the radial pop-up is 'Context Sensitive', and have NO part selected is a legitimate 'context' of it's own.

BTW, starting with NX 8.5 you will now be able to edit the content of any 'radial' pop-up, including all of the so-called 'context sensitive' versions for each selectable object type. You can either remove any existing ones, add your own or reorder the ones that are already there. Any changes made are saved in your Role like any other menu/toolbar Customization.

Thanks John, but that still doesn't explain why the hide button is missing when it is. I know it's context sensitive, but, on occasions, it's not there when it SHOULD be there.

Hey Walterke,

I'm having the exact same problem now and then. Sometimes it is suddenly gone and later it is suddenly back again.
I'm not sure but I believe just closing the part or all parts makes it work again. It is annoying.
I've also another problem with buttons which I was looking for. The load and constraint buttons in advanced simulations do always strange. When I stand on the pull down menu and wait for 2 seconds, the pull down disappears and also the button icon changes in itself.
