Can we substitue AFLAS O-Ring with BUNA O-Ring?

RE: Difference between AFLAS O-RING and BUNA O-RING

Probably not

RE: Difference between AFLAS O-RING and BUNA O-RING

I'll say "probably not, but maybe." Depends entirely on the fluid, pressure, and temperature.

Good on ya,

Ok, thank you very much for your help. What is the usage for BUNA O-Ring?

RE: Difference between AFLAS O-RING and BUNA O-RING

"What is the usage for BUNA O-Ring?"

Cheap stuff that you don't mind having leak past the o-ring.

More seriously, google "Parker O-ring Handbook", download it, read it, and become an o-ring expert very quickly.

RE: Difference between AFLAS O-RING and BUNA O-RING

The industry trend in my area of interest (upstream oil and gas) is to specify the Aflas in moderately sour service and / or in amine service. Buna does not last as long or perform as well in those services, apparently.

RE: Difference between AFLAS O-RING and BUNA O-RING

There is a world of difference in the materials, Aflas being a Fluoropolymer and Buna-N being a Nitrile Rubber. Though both have their limitations the Aflas covers more ground, though at a higher cost.
A key point is if you are able, is to check it out in the fluid you are going to exposed to. A simple immersion test will tell you a lot as most charts are for pure materials.
