Bathroom exhaust fan on GFCI breaker.

Bathroom exhaust fan on GFCI breaker.

(OP)
Hello,

I could not find a CEC requirement for bathroom exhaust fan to be connected to a GFCI breaker. I checked the manufacturer's installation sheet and it is basically a requirement there. So I would be considering that requirement. My query is that would it be considered best practice or would it be violation of code if we are to connect the bathroom exhaust fan on the same GFCI breaker that existing bathroom receptacles are on, if there is sufficient capacity?

Thank you.

Regards,

RE: Bathroom exhaust fan on GFCI breaker.

The GFCI breaker protection (Earth leakage) may have spurious trips due to increased circuit capacitance. It is not a good practice to connect more than one device where sensitive earth leakage protection for human safety against electrocution is involved.
