Post Installed Anchors on S.O.G
Post Installed Anchors on S.O.G
(OP)
Im looking for tips on things to check and verifying when specifying post installed anchors on existing slabs on grade. One thing that comes to mind immediately is to have the contractor verify the slab depth at various locations as the actual depth never matches what shown on the existing drawings.
Any other things i should look out for or be mindfull of?

1. firstly the manufacturer's instructions should be followed. sometimes they require that the hole be drilled then blown or brushed for chemical anchors. there may be requirements for undercutting or a dozen other preparations.
2. some anchors have temperature restrictions for installation.
3. what jurisdiction are you in? some building codes superimpose additional requirements on post-installed anchors including inspection of the hole by an engineer.
4. what is the nature of the load. some anchors have restrictions related to dynamic loads or permanent tension loads.
5. verify your edge/end/spacing distances.
6. determine if the anchor loads presume installation in cracked or uncracked concrete?
7. does the jurisdiction require state product approval?
