Opening Autodesk 3D models in SW

Opening Autodesk 3D models in SW

(OP)
A client uses autodesk for their 3D modelling, I need to open their models in SW10. Two opened just fine, the geometry was usable and consistent. However the rest of the models I've been sent give me an error, early end of file or corrupted data.

What are we missing, they say that all the files were saved the same way.

RE: Opening Autodesk 3D models in SW

Given the nature of the error, and the fact that two opened just fine, I would say the issue is on their end. Ask them to re-save their files. You might ask that they save in different formats (*.step, *.iges, *.x_t) as well, to see if you can't get more consistent results.

RE: Opening Autodesk 3D models in SW

As noted, Autodesk is a company, not a CAD software product.
Latest Autodesk products (or free Inventor Fusion http://labs.autodesk.com)
can save as parasolid directly - so have them check out/in before they send you anything.

Attach file here that doesn't work if you can't get good replacement file from source.

The files are coming out of Autocad 2010, we're trying a bunch of different types. Thanks for the advice.
