explosion effects on cavern walls
explosion effects on cavern walls
(OP)
I have an excavation design for a gyratory crusher in a iron ore plant. The cavern dimension is about 20 m ×12m×30m (depth) and the location of structure is very close to iron ore pit (about 400 m ). The extraction operation is carried out by explosion. For design of cavern wall with 30m height, it is necessary consideration the explosion effects to wall stability. Do you have any experience in this case?
Thank you
Thank you

RE: explosion effects on cavern walls
If the facility is manned, depending on magnitude of the explosion, yes, due to shockwave.
For vibration, yes, the extent depends on the magnitude of the explosion.
For direct destruction, if the cavern in sound ground, unlikely, from the published effects of underground nuclear weapons, you need a mighty one to smash beyond 360 ft of ground zero.
For localized damaged, yes, this can always happen on any pulse vibration, and more for repeated pulses.
