But to your point, you cannot "scare" them, that implies a level of intelligence that allows for "if-then" extrapolation, something that is severely impaired in reptiles and many rodents. Exclusion is the only viable solution.

I have normally seen marshaling kiosks made of suitable outdoor rated enclosure. Is your box properly specified for your location? If not how about using one that is?

Mothballs. Mothballs are listed as non-corrosive, but I'm not sure how that applies to electrical circuits. But be careful, older formulas of mothballs contained Napthalene, which was flamable. You would NOT want to use those around anything electrical!
