Machine Adjustment design modification

Machine Adjustment design modification

Machine Adjustment design modification

(OP)
I have a design drawn up to adjust a piece of machinery by a lead screw with an anchor attached to the machine. The original request was to have a hand wheel installed to the end of the screw for manual operation. Now the request has been changed to use a tool to turn the screw instead of by hand (entire machine is covered over a safety cage.). I was thinking of taking an endpiece similar to a socket head and have a tool with a hex head or square head that will align in place with the endpiece. I was wondering if these types of parts (not the tool) are generally pre-made or is this something that I will need to do a custom manufacture process with.

RE: Machine Adjustment design modification

Your lead screw supplier will offer a wide variety of end machining options.

Aside from the aforementioned lead screw suggestion you
might want to look at power jacks. We use this approach with
servo-motors to get a high degree of precision and direct
readout of position.
