Countmeasures Computer power supply

Countmeasures Computer power supply

(OP)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have a Countmeasures Computer power supply whose part number is 1874AS7200 made by Raytheon, its failure rate is 83.36. Raytheon has another proposed power supply whose part number is 1874AS7300 whose failure rate is 93.31.   For the one whose part number is  1874AS7300 Raytheon used the "Brick Technology".
 I need to know :
1) Why the failure rate for this one is almost 10 more than the other one.
2) Which one is better and why.
3) What is I "Brick Technology" and what is the benifit of its use.
If you have any information please let me know. If you have any fax number please let me know than I can fax some more information about those power supply. You can also contact me at saha65@mail.com.

RE: Countmeasures Computer power supply

The part numbers look like NAVAIR drawing numbers, and are probably meaningless elsewhere.

"Brick" is a name used by VICOR to describe their standard DC-DC power supplies and come in full, 1/2 and 1/4 sizes, example below:

The change in failure rate is barely 12%, and it's not clear whether that will make or break the bank, since we're talking the MTBF changing from 11,996 to 10,717.  Unless you have hundreds of systems, I'm not even sure that you'd be able to detect the difference.
