ASME Flange design for external pressure

ASME Flange design for external pressure

ASME Flange design for external pressure

(OP)
guys,

Can somebody clarify me, how compress exempted for ASME standard flange design for both internal and external pressure.

As per ASME B16.5/ B16.47 standard, pressure-temperature rating is developed for internal pressure only. So, for internal pressure design it exempted form pressure-temperature rating. Then how does compress exempted for external pressure.

Also, compress show MAWEP (max. allowable working external pressure) based on pressure component like (shell, head, nozzle reinforcement). Without doing calculation for standard flanges, how can it can show MAWEP on pressure summary. Sometimes MAWEP can be very very large to design Full Vacuum Condition. How can we be assure the report developed by compress is correct?

Regards,
Susan
