I'm trying to figure out how the lateral crane load gets divided out amongst the bridge crane wheels. I've seen two different examples do it two different ways. The crane system I have has 4 total wheels (two on each side). The example in the AISC Design Guide 7 (on page 58) divides by 4, but you don't really know how many wheels they have. So I guess what I'm asking is if you divide the lateral force by the total number of wheels, or just the number of wheels on one side. Thank you for the help.

Assuming the supporting structure provides reasonably equal stiffness to lateral forces at each crane rail location, the overall lateral force (20% of (rated capacity plus weight of hoist and trolley)) will split 50/50 between the two crane beams. The load at each side would then be divided by the number of wheels to determine a load at each wheel location.
