Path Creation Help

Path Creation Help

Path Creation Help

(OP)
Hi,

I am new to the program Abaqus and Python and was looking to get some help in creating a path and exporting XY data.

I have a simple plate model with 3, 1 inch square patches. One is in the middle where a load is applied and the other two are offset 4 inches from the center. While I have finally figured out how to create different size and thicknesses of plates and getting the datums and partitions correct each time, this changes the node numbers and locations every time I change any dimensions.

Currently, every time I change the dimensions I have to reselect each node within the one inch square to create the path and export the XY data. So I have two questions in regard to that.

1) There MUST be a way to highlight a number of nodes at once to create the path correct? I have not been able to figure it out and end up having to click 65 nodes every time.
2)Can anyone recommend a way to get Python to automatically create a path in that area even those the nodes often change? I have my dimensions extending in the +/- X direction and -y direction so that everything starts at 0,0.

If I can clarify anything please let me know. It is difficult to explain issues online. ANY help would be great because I do not want to have to generate a path by hand for the hundreds of times I know I will be running this script :(
