analysis and design of curved beams

(OP)
can you give me some reference on analysis of uniformly distributed loaded curved beams

RE: analysis and design of curved beams

Look in Blodgett. There are design aids for curved beams towards the end.

RE: analysis and design of curved beams

Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain also has equations for curved beams.

Unfortunately, the design turns into a mess.

If by chance you have a complete circular ring supported at N points, it can be analyzed easier than the Roark's formulas would indicate.

RE: analysis and design of curved beams

Curved how? Vertically or horizontally?

BA

RE: analysis and design of curved beams

Assuming horizontally, one complete example for bridge applications is

http://bridges.transportation.org/Documents/I-Gird...
http://onlinepubs.trb.org/onlinepubs/nchrp/nchrp_r...

Step-by-step design examples of Horizontally Curved Highway Bridges developed through NCHRP 12-52—updated to the 2005 LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, these examples supersede the examples from the 2003 AASHTO Guide Specifications for Horizontally Curved Steel Girder Highway Bridges with Design Examples for I-Girder and Box-Girder Bridges. Updated examples include a curved box-girder bridge as well as a curved I-girder bridge.

This item is provided through the AASHTO Archives as a historical document for those interested in the evolution of highway standards and specifications.
It does not represent current technical information

The AASHTO current specs proper will cover other instances of curved I girders for bridge applications.

Other bridge example as per Virginia DOT at

Both for arches and curved in plan...
http://shop.steel-sci.com/products/122-design-of-c...

Includes a 11 pages Curved balcony member example that maybe exactly your case.
