Interpretation of ISO 8062-3
Interpretation of ISO 8062-3
(OP)
Hi,
I'm currently working with steel castings prototypes establishing tolerances for measuirng the FAI usin ISO 8062-3. I'm using the table 2 in the Section 5 (paragraph 5.2, Casting Tolerances) in orer to define all limits. There is anote below that says "As a default conditions for the dimensions, the casting tolerance should be simmetrically disposed with respect to the nominal dimension.......". Should this applies for those dimensions on the drawing formn the center line of the casting? or applies for all dimensions (thickness, overall length, hights, etc.)?? How should w e consider this note?? Do I have to split all tolernaces in the table??
Thanks.

RE: Interpretation of ISO 8062-3
Ram,
First, (just in case) you are dealing with GENERAL tolerances, which are only implied for all un-toleranced dimensions.
Second, old version of the standard actually had this “split” principle illustrated (see picture).
Was that any help?
