Dear all I do finished the gauging of 20 inch pipeline the problem is I have a small deflection in the gauging plate I am afraid that the launcher dimension is not correct I need to know what is the intelligent pig dimension especially to make sure that my 24 *20 inch reducer can pass it or not

RE: Intelligent pigging

What is pipe schedule? What is gauging plate finished size?
Note, in the standard, there is nothing that governs minimum ID of a reducer.

RE: Intelligent pigging

Check with your smart pig service provider. There are dozens of different brands of smart pigs and each has its own tolerances for diameter, intrusions, and bend diameter.

"Prejudice" is having an opinion not supported by the preponderance of the data.

my pipeline is 20" with x52 and 0.5 " thickness

RE: Intelligent pigging

A 20" pipeline is not a problem for a 20" line pig, intelligent or not. You need to find out where the restriction is and what the ID is there.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it's not safe ... make it that way.

RE: Intelligent pigging

My estimate of a 24"x20" XS reducer min ID is 18.7", but suggest you measure it.
This should not pose problem for a 20" pig, but do check with pig provider.

RE: Intelligent pigging

Again, this should not be a problem for a 20" tool. Your deflection may not from the launcher. Valves and dents are the most common culprits of ID restrictions. You can take photos and measurements of the damaged gauging plate and provide theses to your ILI vendor. They still may be able to run their tool. If they won't run their tool / the problem persists and you are unable to determine the cause, you could run a caliper tool first to determine the location and get detailed measurements of the ID restriction.
