ASME VIII & ASME IX QUESTION

ASME VIII & ASME IX QUESTION

ASME VIII & ASME IX QUESTION

(OP)
IS THERE A WELD REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR EITHER OF THESE CODES? Any answer will help

RE: ASME VIII & ASME IX QUESTION

ASME Sec. IX gives you the basic requirements for writing and qualifying a weld procedure and also performance qualification testing of your welders. Study it paragraph by paragraph before commencing to generate a procedure. Sec. VIII, may in some cases impose stricter requirements on your welding, add in notch toughness requirements at specific temperatures etc.

RE: ASME VIII & ASME IX QUESTION

Please See UW-38 in Section VIII Divsion 1 for the weld repairs those occure during construction.
For the weld repairs of the vessels placed in service, see NBIC nb23 or API 510.
Both Codes refer to Section IX for WPS, PQR, WQT, WOQT completly or partially\.

How many time can you repair a single weld per section VIII Div 1 and B31.3 before you will have to do a complete cutout of the weld.
