I am totally wrong here and i need help

I am totally wrong here and i need help

Hi everyone,

I am totally wrong here. I studied engineering and specialized in aerospace but I worked as a client archtict during the last years. I am looking for forums with people that are interested in aerospace but also experience with standard operation environment ---- could anyone direct me to the right subforum, please.
I'd be super glad, I'm kinda lost here.

Thanks,

Erin

RE: I am totally wrong here and i need help

What do you mean by "standard operation environment"?

"On the human scale, the laws of Newtonian Physics are non-negotiable"

RE: I am totally wrong here and i need help

this is fine for a geerl aero type of question. more technical tend to be in the "Aero. Eng" forums ... "aerodynamic engineering", "aeronautic eng'g and others", and "aircraft eng'g".

RE: I am totally wrong here and i need help

Do you mean "Standard Operating Environments"?

That is really up to the mission of the craft.

Ask the question, if it is not the right forum, there are at least 5 regulars that will let you know what forum it belongs in. If you phrase it like a homework assignment, you will get bonus points for being a student imposter.

Thanks guys,
it's not really a technical question.
I found a job ad of a German company. The ad is in English but it must have been translated from the German originial, so some phrases sound a bit strange and I'm not sure if I got them right.

"Ability to roadmap and plan for end of life transitioning of hardware and standard operating environments".

I thought the job is more about end2end client frameworks, so I'm kinda confused about the "end of life transitioning of hardware" part. Does it mean that I'm also responsible for hardware distribution and disposal?

Thanks,

Erin

RE: I am totally wrong here and i need help

The literal wording suggests that you only "plan" for "end of life" not necessarily that you execute your plan...

But, the context is still thin. You may need to be planning for obsolescence replacements as well.

hehe.
The whole ad is really strange

Lucky for me, my German is goog enough to read the German parts lol.
Anyway, I have some more questions about this job, would you mind directing me to a subforum where I could find experts in this field?

Thanks for your help so far!
Erin

RE: I am totally wrong here and i need help

This is a purely IT job, and the most likely forum for discussing this is ET's sister site Tek-Tips.com. Note, however, you will be distributing this ad to people who could potentially compete for this job.

In any case, SOE in this context is the complement of OS and software applications provided for their laptops. Seems unclear what the SOE's intended use is. It looks like a combination semi-technical, semi-management position. You're responsible for managing a bunch of subcontractors, yet be sufficiently expert in Active Domain and Group Policy structure and customization.

Hi,
thanks a lot for your help! I'll take a closer look at Tek-Tips.com - and you're right, I should find a way to ask my questions without posting the ad. Thanks for the advice.

Sorry for posting my question in the wrong forum.
I hope I can make up for it some time and help someone else in this forum!

Have a great day!
Erin

RE: I am totally wrong here and i need help

Parts obselescence is a big issue for avionics. Operators like to operate and repair a device without change for decades. Electrical components usually don't have sufficent market life. Strategies need to be put in place to support any electircal componenent to it's final days.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; experience suggests that in practice, there is.

Sorry for the delay...I didn't expect any more answers. But yeah, I can see what you mean and I guess you're right. There are many processes that could be optimized...
