Can I have photo-realistic images with NX7?

Can I have photo-realistic images with NX7?

(OP)
Hello everyone,
I'm using NX7 and the company that I work needs photo-realistic results of my work.
Comparing for example to 3ds max, is it possible to have those very good photo-realistic images with NX7? and if yes, what exactly I must do? ponder
thank you in advance smile

Yes, have a look at View - Visualization - High Quality Image.

But first you need to assign materials to your assembly. In the row next to you Assembly navigator, there is a tab system materials. Pick one hold down you left mouse button and drag it over a part of the assembly. Do this for all your parts, then press CTRL+SHIFT+H, start shade and the materials will apply.

Then you can add a background, play with lighting,...

It's not so refined as comparison to 3ds max, but it will do the trick.

Best regards,

Michaël.

RE: Can I have photo-realistic images with NX7?

I think you need the extra license to do photo-realistic images

RE: Can I have photo-realistic images with NX7?

The images in the Siemens calendar from NX were created from the Photo realistic image module of NX. It is third-party code from Lightwave in the UK. You can do a lot with it, but I think it does require an additional license.

Actually it's 'Lightworks', not Lightwave, but everything else Ben mentioned was correct.

Hello again,

I've tried to contact "LightWork Design Ltd" by completing the relevant form, here:
http://www.lightworkdesign.com/contact-form.html

I also tried to send an email but doesn't seem to work as a valid email address:
Link

Still have no response sad Does anyone knows any further details or what is going on with that company?
Any help will be greatly appreciated,

thnx!

Dee

But why are you attempting to contact 'Lightworks Design'? Granted, we've licensed and use tools developed by Lightworks for the NX Photo-Realistic capabilities, but contacting them will gain you NOTHING with respect to the use of that capability. All that you need is already there and ready to be used.

Thank you very much for your quick response!
Actually, I need to collect as much information as I can before the company that I work for proceed to any kind of NX software upgrade or to buy a new one. The truth is that I didn't find any further details at the NX official website concerning ADVANCED 3d photo-realistic rendering. As an old user of 3ds max I have experienced superior results but I don't know many things about the NX rendering capabilities to be able to compare with 3ds max.
If Lightworks is the developer of that NX render extra module (what's the name really?) I would like to know more details about the ADVANCED rendering capabilities like: 3d ready-to-use libraries... and of course user libraries (including materials, textures, mapping), extra lighting and camera effects... etc.
so finally, the last but not least is to compare the prices among advanced rendering applications

p.s. technically and in terms of engineering NX is definitely leading software

Perhaps this page from our public website will answer some of your questions:

http://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/en_us/produc...

Also, here are a few 'YouTube' videos showing some examples of NX Rendering:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zkIiL1iEPc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46aKyxvCFEU (it's in German, but if you run it at full screen it does a good job of showing you the dialogs for some of the dynamic rendering capabilities of NX)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89828kR7tUM (the model, the rendering and the actual video itself was created 100% INSIDE of NX using the integrated tools of our various visualization functionality)
