Obtaining PE License

Obtaining PE License

Obtaining PE License

(OP)
I have begun looking into the requirements for getting my PE license.  One stumbling block- in my state (Indiana), I must have recommendations from at least 2 current PE's who can vouch for my character and work ethics.  I don't work with any PE's so I don't have anyone who can vouch for me (other than a couple college professors from 10 years ago).

Has anyone run into this before?  Any suggestions for ways to get around this?  I wrote to the Indiana PE board but all they did was quote the section of the manual which states that I must be recommended by 2 PE's.

RE: Obtaining PE License

Look at the FAQ under Mechanical Engineer's. On source of possible references is consulatants you may have worked with.

RE: Obtaining PE License

Most states that license under the NCEES test protocol require that you prove experience of at least 4 years under the supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer (3 years with Master's Degree).  While I suppose it is possible to get this waived, I believe it will be difficult, simply because you have apparently not been working in an arena that requires licensing.  The obvious route is to start working under the supervision of a registered engineer for the appropriate experience and to meet the "responsible charge" definition of those projects.

Good luck.

RE: Obtaining PE License

Many Vendors are PE's and they see the quality of you work and deal with you.
Good Luck
