Crack control check for slabs (CL. 10.6.1, A23.3-04)

Crack control check for slabs (CL. 10.6.1, A23.3-04)

(OP)
The crack control check (CL.10.6.1, A23.3-04 Canadian) which is based on the Gergely & Lutz equation is almost impossible to satisfy for slabs. I doubt very many people actually perform this check for slab design, but I feel it is important enough to perform. Anyone else has difficulty meeting this requirement when performing slab designs? I can usually get this requirement to work for beams.

RE: Crack control check for slabs (CL. 10.6.1, A23.3-04)

i only use crack control (ACI not CAN) for concrete tanks that contain liquid.

I suggest considering crack control also for one-way slabs of parking structures. Although they must be covered woth a waterproofing membrane in accordance with CSA S413 Parking Structures, the membrane should perform better if it does not have to bridge wider cracks. Probably also limit cracks for architecturally exposed concrete.
