Testing effects of limescale on domestic heating product

Testing effects of limescale on domestic heating product

(OP)
I am not sure this is the correct forum but I am sure you are familiar with problems of limescale on heaters due to hard water.

I wish to make up very hard water to test limescale effects on heater. I'm no chemist but I am sure it is not as simple as getting a bottle of calcium bicarbonate and pouring it into domestic water to make up saturated solution. Or is it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

RE: Testing effects of limescale on domestic heating product

Have you looked at the Wikipedia article "Hard Water"? It is a pretty comprehensive starting point. You should also be familiar with the Langlier Index (Langlier Saturation Index.)
