PACKED BED SCRUBBER. DESIGN CODE

PACKED BED SCRUBBER. DESIGN CODE

PACKED BED SCRUBBER. DESIGN CODE

(OP)
Hi everybody,

I need some advices.

I have a prilling air scrubber and we have some doubts respect to which mechanical design code we have to use.

Characteristics:
Internal desing pressure: full of liquid
Internal temperature design: 120ºC
Diameter: 4 600 mm
Length: 10 200 mm from base to top Tangent Line.
Bottom: flat plate
Top: transition that ends in a connection of 2000 mm diameter.
It has packing which length is 4600 mm

My suggestion was using API 650 for shell and bottom, and API 620 for the transition cone, but now I am not sure due to the local loads of the beams packing support on the shell (not covered by API 650???)

Please, could someone recommend me some paper or share its experience in this issue?

Thanks for your help

RE: PACKED BED SCRUBBER. DESIGN CODE

I would probably just use API-620 for the whole thing, as it is more general and fits non-standard geometries better.

Thanks JStephen,

but do you see any problem with the loads that the packing supporting beams is generating on the wall of the scrubber?

Thanks!
