Anchor Length for Geosynthetic Reinforcement In Retaining Wall System

I've been asked to determine the location and quantity of reinforcement required for an 8' tall retaining wall. I used SRWall 4.0 software using the vendor provided VDF file containing the information on the blocks and geosynthetic to be used for the project. I've managed to figure out the exact locations where reinforcement is required for the soil types present at this project, but the issue I am having is that in addition to the length of geosynthetic, the the software provides an "Anchor Length'. I am having a hard time figuring out where/how the geosynthetic is supposed to be anchored. I would appreciate any help in figuring this out!

I would talk to the vendor.

There is some current thought that ancorage (at the block) is not nearly as important as once thought. The stability of the system is provided by the reinforced earth and the block face mostly provides protection and the esthetic. I picked this information up at a seminar that was provided by Allan Block (www.allanblock.com). You may wish to contact their engineers to deterimine its source.

The anchor length is the length of the grid beyond the failure plane. This must be 1'-0" if you following NCMA design. If you want to see this length click ion the results tab -> internal -> full results button on the right hand side.
This is the length of grid on which your using to resist the active pressure that is pushing on the units.
