Selection of valves in Industrial Reverse osmosis plant
Selection of valves in Industrial Reverse osmosis plant
(OP)
In reverse osmosis pre-treatment (after FRP Multimedia Filter and before the Feed Pump) the
type of valve used is "Electrically actuated butterfly valve".
For Chemical cleaning line (CIP - Claening In Place), the type of valve used is "manually
operated Ball Valve".
Basically the purpose of these two valves is "ON/OFF" not to control the flow OR pressure.
Can anyone explain, if the purpose of these valves is same, why different types are being
used?
Thanks
Mac

The butterfly valve is an economical valve choice in water and waste water treatment
lines.
Ball valves are excellent in chemical applications.

The comparison manual ball valve vs. actuated butterfly valve, though, doesn't make any sense, since manual vs. actuation are two very different roads.
My focus is on valve stockists in the us and uk who supply duplex and super duplex valves, and inconel and hastelloy valves, plus titanium, alloy 20 and 904L valves.
