Why even number of nodes around holes

Why even number of nodes around holes

Why even number of nodes around holes

(OP)
Hello everyone,
Can anybody please tell me that why we maintain even number of nodes around holes while meshing a model?

Thank you

RE: Why even number of nodes around holes

Never heard of that... can you send me a reference of this please ?

RE: Why even number of nodes around holes

'cause it's easy to divide into an even number of elements.

but then it's no harder to divide into an odd number either !

'cause you get a nice looking "fan" pattern of the elements ...

nothing suggests that the virtual world will come crashing down on you, invalidating your results, if you use an odd number of elements.

unless, of course, your customer has specified doing this ...
in which case the very real contract world will come avisiting your cubie.

RE: Why even number of nodes around holes

in general it is best to use even numbers to avoid tri elements when using shell elements but it is of course possible to use odd number and not have trias around a hole.

just make sure there are atleast 4 elements per quadrant
