[NX8] Customize RMB on feature

[NX8] Customize RMB on feature

[NX8] Customize RMB on feature

(OP)
Hi,
I would like the 'Move to layer' command on RMB on feature plane as on sketch feature.
It's possible without strange workaround ?

Thank you...

Using NX 8 and TC8.3

RE: [NX8] Customize RMB on feature

Not sure that you can do it per command, however, you can go this route:

1. While in Modeling, Tools -> Customize; you should see the 3 Radial popups - Radial 1, Radial 2, Radial 3. The number represents the mouse button you press in combination with CTRL+SHIFT to bring up the radial popups.

2. Drag the icon for Move To Layer to Radial 1, 2 or 3

3. Done.

In the past, I've lobbied for the ability to customize the selection-based popups like you're describing, but didn't get much support from the powers that be.

RE: [NX8] Customize RMB on feature

No command in NX for directly moving a Datum to a Layer (like mb3 on Sketch -> Move to Layer) unfortunately.
A Workaround is to press mb3 on Datum -> Edit Dispplay -> change layer...done

Thanks Peter,
you confirm my thinking.
GTAC tell me that in the next release it will possible.

Thank you...

RE: [NX8] Customize RMB on feature

Well yes and no. To the extent that you will be able to edit the contents of what we're calling the 'Context Toolbar', this is true. The 'Context Toolbar' will be a new additional 'toolbar' which will automatically appear near your cursor whenever you select an object on the screen, be it an edge, face, body, feature, component, etc. Even if you do NOT press the MB3 button the 'Context Toolbar' will appear which, out of the box, will have a predefined set of options (in the form or icons) specific to the type of object(s) selected. This will generally include, where relevant, options such as Delete, Hide, Edit, Edit Display, etc. In fact, for each type of object, there will be a unique, AND USER EDITABLE (via Customize), list of options available whenever you select an object EVEN IF YOU ONLY USED MB1 TO SELECT THE OBJECT. In many ways, this 'Context Toolbar' will be similar to the Radial Pop-Up, which will still appear if you select and press/hold MB3, except that you will not be limited to only 8 options as you are with the Radial Pop-Up. Note that using the same Customize tool as you would for the new 'Context Toolbar' you will now also be able to edit the Context Sensitive Radial Pop-Up as well, but again limited to only 8 options while the 'Context Toolbar' will be unlimited.

Now as to why I also said 'no' is because while we have NOT changed the idea the if you select and press/release MB3 you will still get the traditional pop-up 'Context Menu', as well as the new 'Context Toolbar' which will remain visible and selectable as long as the 'Context Menu' is displayed, you will NOT be able to edit the content of the actual pop-up 'Context Menu'. Only the new 'Context Toobar' and the Radial Pop-Up will be editable by the user, via Customize, to either add to or remove options (icons) from the Toolbar/Radial pop-up.

John,
this is sufficient.

Thank you...

RE: [NX8] Customize RMB on feature

Just so that all the bases are covered on this issue, while we have not provided any scheme to interactively edit (add to and/or remove from) the so-called pop-up 'Context Menu' using Customize or any other similar tool, we have added NX Open routines in NX 8.5 which can be used to do just that, modify these object specific menus.
