Bundle Pressure Test

Bundle Pressure Test

Bundle Pressure Test

(OP)
Hi everyone,

When a leaking tube is discovered during a bundle pressure test. What do we normally do with the leaking tube? I heard we normally plugged or rerolled the tube at different scenarios. How's this plugging and rerolling being done? I am a young engineer and I would appreciate hearing this from you guys.

Thanks in advance!

RE: Bundle Pressure Test

Plugs are slightly tapered cylinders, that are lightly hammered into the tube end. In some scenarios, plugs are subsequently seal welded to tube ends. Naturally, HX performance is reduced.
Where shell side pressure is leaking (between tube outer surface and tubesheet hole), tube can be re-rolled (expanded).
