thread552-273189: Mathcad 12 + Windows 7

Same boat. Tried using various caompatibility modes and even tried installing it in Virtual XP mode. The install proceeds normally, but Mcad will not start. No C_Dilla folder anywhere. Anyone have better luck? Don't really need Prime, but may need to upgrade just to be able to use my old files.

RE: thread552-273189 Same boat. Trie

If I had Mathcad 12, I'd upgrade anyway. M13, M14 & M15 are superior in every respect and have a far greater degree of backward compatibility with older (<= M11) worksheets.

I'm running the 64bit version of Win 7 Pro.

Seems like the upgrade path through PTC is straight to Prime 2. How does one upgrade to M15?

RE: thread552-273189 Same boat. Trie

I'm not sure M15 is available as a standalone product. However, if you buy Prime 2.0, you get a free M15.0 thrown-in. A bit like buying a Yugo and getting a courtesy Jaguar XL thrown in. Prime does have one outstanding advantage over M12..M15, though - static type checking has been removed, now allowing such things as mixed units in arrays.

RE: thread552-273189 Same boat. Trie

Note that M15 is required for converting older files to a format readable by Prime. That was apparently a conscious decision made by PTC. Therefore, M15 needs to be bundled with Prime in order to support older sheets.

Guess I should have looked at the event viewer.

I've got the trial versions of 15 and Prime 2, and both seem to be working fine.

RE: thread552-273189 Same boat. Trie

Is Prime really a replacement for M15? I tried the early versions and was totally discouraged.

Prime 2.0 is seemingly a lot better than Prime 1.0, but I think it would be fairer to state that the upcoming Prime 3.0 is nearer to a replacement for M15, although there may still be some capability gaps. However, Prime will allow a lot more of the <= M11 programs to run that were crippled by the static type checking introduced with M12 and retained by M13..M15.
