Creating arrangements by selecting what I don't want suppressed

Creating arrangements by selecting what I don't want suppressed

Creating arrangements by selecting what I don't want suppressed

(OP)
I want to create an arrangement with only a few parts showing in the arrangement. The only way that I know how to create an arrangment is to select everything that I want suppressed an set them as suppressed in a chosen arrangement. I tried selecting what I want to see, then selcting inverse, then tried to set suppression on the resulting selected parts. I got an error that I believe is because my selection set included children of components? "Multiple components can only be edited when they are children of the same occurence of a parent part"

Is there are way to get around having to select every component that I want suppressed? In other words, it's much easier for me (in this case) to select what I want unsuppressed.

ok, I think i've found a solution by using model views instead.

RE: Creating arrangements by selecting what I don't want suppressed

After creating your new Arrangment name, go to...

Assemblies -> Components -> Edit Suppression State...

...select ALL Compenents, hit OK, select the new Arrangement from the list, select the 'Always Suppressed' State and then hit OK. Now go back to...

Assemblies -> Components -> Edit Suppression State...

...only this time select only the Component that you want to see in when this Arrangement is used, hit OK, select the new Arrangement from the list, select the 'Never Suppressed' State and then hit OK.

Now when you select the new Arrangement and make it active, it should only be showing you the Components that you want and all of the rest will be suppressed.
