buckle contact alternative

buckle contact alternative

buckle contact alternative

(OP)
Hi all

i am absolut newbie in abaqus.

I need 5 ciritical Loads of a structure similar to a beam.
Therefore i performed buckle analysis. The first critical load is correct.
However the remaining ones are incorrect, due to a contact problem.

The problem is, that the first part penetrates the whole second part and the resulting cr. loads are incorrect.
So i assigned a simple hard contact between these surfaces to prevent penetration.

But abaqus doesnt recognize the contact definition and the penetration still occurs.

I assume either my contact definitions are incorrect or buckle mode is limited.

So i need help for a simple contact or for an alternative way to calculate the 5 critical loads

regards
hase

RE: buckle contact alternative

hi ktaze,
I assume that you are running a linear buckling analysis. It will not consider contacts in the process of doing that, since it extracts eigen values pretty much like a Modal analysis.

If you need contacts in the analysis, you might want to look at Static Riks method. It can be used for a non linear buckling analysis
