Modal Time History Analysis

Modal Time History Analysis

Modal Time History Analysis

(OP)
Hello,

I am trying to find the individual modal responses say for an N mode structure by doing a modal time history analysis for a time dependent Earthquake Loading .
The current results give me the maximum for each element after combining all the modal responses what i am looking for is the Individual Modal response for each element for this particular loading ..
Can anyone suggest if it is possible in SAP ?

Thanks

RE: Modal Time History Analysis

I'm confused and curious.... why would you need the indvidual modal response for an element. Isn't the whole point that you can get good approximation of overall response only by using multiple modes?

If you want to verify the time-history response for your structure, then i would thing that you might compare your time-history results (from modal superpostition) to the results using direct integration.

I'm not a SAP guy, but rather someone who is interested in all things Time-History. So, perhaps I am missing something program specific here.

I want the Individual Responses to run a Matlab code for a proposed combination something which is not in any of these software's nor in the code and to compare the results and check the validity of the proposed new modal combination method .

I hope I answered to why I am looking to do this .
