Stainless for Fluorides

Stainless for Fluorides

(OP)
I am looking at a process tank for a metal pre-treatment containing "fluoride compounds" in the range of 5-10%, phosphoric acid in the range of 1-5% and hexafluorotitanic acid in the range of
1-5%. The bath will consist of 5% of this chemical in DI water. Bath runs at ambient temperature and there is pump agitation. Would 304 suffice for this tank or is something more exotic required?

RE: Stainless for Fluorides

Although you did not mention volume required, I would consider a FRP tank or liner. Most pre-treatment tanks I have seen on various audits are now fiberglass.

Thanks, metengr--as a metallurgist, I always forget about the plastic option. Tank size will be around 700 gallons, BTW.

RE: Stainless for Fluorides

Swall;
This tank size would be ideal for FRP.
