UG-42 Multiple Opening

UG-42 Multiple Opening

UG-42 Multiple Opening

(OP)
Hi dears
May anyone tell me the what means the below sentence mentioned in UG-42(a):

"No portion of the cross section is to be considered as applying to more than one opening, nor to be considered more than once in a combined area."

Thanks in advance.
Ramin

RE: UG-42 Multiple Opening

You have to apportion the material to each of the two adjacent nozzles; no material can be considered as reinforcing both openings. You "draw a line" somewhere between the two openings; the area on each side of the line reinforces the opening on the same side.
