Wire Contact Diameter?

Wire Contact Diameter?

Wire Contact Diameter?

(OP)
Hi, Im at it again trying to find more info on measuring gears. Im looking all over and cant find info on getting the wire contact diameter when measuring over wires.

I know the WireSeries / DP gets you a good size, but at what diameter does this actually contact at, and how is this contact diameter effected when a gear is reduced or enlarged?

Also, I have seen mentions to a Dudley Handbook of Practical Gear Design, and one other I remember.
Are there two version of a similar book?

Thanks for the Tip. I purchased the book and like the formulas in it. It gives nice basics and how other formulas are developed.
