Motor voltage relay troubleshooting
Motor voltage relay troubleshooting
(OP)
Hi,
I'm having issues with an Allen bradley voltage relay that is used on a 88Hp pump motor. The model of the relay is 813S-V3-690V. The motor runs at 600V.
The relay "AL" led keeps flashing from red to green really quickly. I've been looking over the internet to find a user manual of some sort that would help me understand what causes the AL led to go crazy.. no cigar.
Any help is more than welcomed !
Thanks
Pat

RE: Motor voltage relay troubleshooting
I would check with Rockwell Automation (Parent Co) for manaual details.
Other things you can try. Measure with a separate meter the input voltage to the relay - is it within reasonable (Vnom*.9) range? If you can, remove the control power, wait a minute and reapply the control power and observe operation. Try removing all sensing voltage and see if the device operates as designed. All of the above assume you are using proper safety practices and can accept a trip operation of the protected motor.

RE: Motor voltage relay troubleshooting
Went and mesured the voltage, it had the wanted 600V L-L.
Now, it was recently changed, so maybe the dip switches aren't set properly. Using the pdf that smallgeek gave me, i will try and see if they're correctly set.
Thanks again

1:OFF
2:OFF
3:ON
4:ON
5:OFF
6:ON
I'm not sure i understand all of the SW settings.
For Sw1: SW1 selects the power-ON delay (inhibit of alarm at the power-ON): 1s or 6s.
Does this means the delay before the relay trips ?
SW3-4 are set for 600V ph-ph. this should be ok.
Is there a reset on the relay ? maybe it tripped for a reason that isnt there anymore ?
I'm creating a imageshack account to post some pictures too.
Thanks

RE: Motor voltage relay troubleshooting
No, it means the relay will not alarm for 1 or 6 seconds when power is first applied. The trip delay is set by the setpoint dials on the front.
Again, as the manual states, no. The trip conditions only persist while ever the voltage levels are outside the setpoints.
