Can you still buy AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical anywhere?

Can you still buy AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical anywhere?

Can you still buy AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical anywhere?

(OP)
We have four boxed copies of AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical (individually licensed). We're adding a fifth person to do CAD, and now I need to source another seat. I'd like to keep everyone on the same version for a few different reasons, and upper management isn't convinced that we should upgrade everybody. (I agree that our business wouldn't see any benefit to a newer version anyway.)

Where would I get this?

I started with this company as a mechanical engineer and ended up going into IT, and now I'm THE AutoCAD support guy. smile

RE: Can you still buy AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical anywhere?

First off, that link is the wrong AutoCAD. Secondly for the price listed, its probably a scam, I see those seats sell as Trials only all the time.

AutoCAD 2008 is actually two years past legacy so you will have to get at least one new seat and you can set the settings in that program to AutoSave down to the 2007 format your other users are on.

@DRWeig - is the version you point to in your link licensable ?
Tks.

RE: Can you still buy AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical anywhere?

I wouldn't know -- you would have to contact the folks at the web store, or contact Autodesk with the link I posted.

Good on ya,

Try e-bay or Craigslist

RE: Can you still buy AutoCAD 2008 Mechanical anywhere?

I bought a copy of 2008 on e-Bay a few years ago. It ran find, but add-ins stopped getting upgrades when it went off-legacy. If I had been smart I would have said to hell with the updates and stayed with 2008. I decided to "upgrade" and there my problems started. The e-Bay version was not upgradeable period. I had a legitimate reseller try everything on their list (and some stuff that wasn't quite on the up and up) and nothing would make that version let me get the upgrade price. I ended up buying a clean copy of 2012 and eradicating the e-Bay copy.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go to e-Bay or CraigsList, but if you do you may have an inexpensive copy that won't migrate to future platforms or let you get upgrade pricing if you ever decide to go that way. There is some question as to whether these "OEM aftermarket" versions are legal or not, but I don't know the truth of that.
