Query Select Order

Query Select Order

Query Select Order

(OP)
I have an annoyance with Wildfire 4.0 that I can't seem to figure out and I wanted to see if someone here could point me in the right direction...

I don't care much for the preselect highlighting feature of Pro/E (especially with large models or surfaces) so I I have stuck with the old query select tool. When I use query select and pick a surface, it picks a vertex or edge that is several layers behind the feature I was trying to pick. This is rather annoying because I have to cycle through the list about 10-20 times for it to come to the feature I intended to pick in the first place.

I believe that the problem is related to the order in which the features appear in the query select tool. I seem to remember in WF 2.0 that the order was surface, edge, vertex, etc. Now, in WF 4.0, it appears that the order is vertex, edge, surface.

Does anyone know how to fix this so I don't lose my sanity cycling through the query select list a thousand times?

RE: Query Select Order

There is a dop-down box in the bottom-right of the screen - change it to surfaces, and you should see only surfaces.

Also, if you right-click when preselecting, you can get the option to pick from list, which may be easier than the query (never used query, so can't say).

I'm familiar with the drop down in the bottom right corner. My problem is that the behavior of the query select tool is different in WF4 than it was in WF2. It should try to pick surfaces that are closest in the view plane...instead it is picking vertexes and edges that are on parts on the opposite side of the assembly from the view plane.
