Turning cut regions don't keep their associativity in template
Turning cut regions don't keep their associativity in template
(OP)
Hi all,
I am making a turning template for studbolts at this moment. In this template I use cut regions in the turning operations. The cam target is a studbolt. All the other studbolts I have to manufature have the same parameters (i believe they are part family). The main difference is their lenght and diameter. I tried to use a formule to position the axial trim point. But when using the template the trim point loses it's associativity with the formule (for example: p10="tapeind_target"::p18; p18 is a parameter from the cam target) and puts a constant instead. I don't understand why this happens. My operation is used as template and created when parent is created. I even tried constructor points in the cam assembly and connect the trim points to this associative points. The points are moving along nice in the template (parameter driven), but the trim point loses his associativity with this point. Please help!!

RE: Turning cut regions don't keep their associativity in template
If the parts are a real part family, pick the geometry, and it should re-associate with each member of the family.

Thanks for your reply. By the way, I attended some presentations of you this year at the PLM world. Thanks for that also! I contacted the mechanical engineer and he confirmed that the studbolt isn't a part family member..... My fault. The studbolts do have the same parameters because of the save-as action. After the save-as action the mechanical engineer changes the geometry due a spreadsheet. Is there no possibility to connect the trim points to these parameters?
I already connected the MSC to a part in the template that is constrained with a distance contrain and this distance is driven by a parameter from the CAM target. It works wonderfull. Even the blank part is driven by these parameters. We're in a test fase at this moment and I really want to prove to my organisation that we can put the efficienty at a must higher level, using this sort of templates (in the future we will use FBM)
Maybe I can send you a file that explains my problem more. Thanks in advance!
