Hello all,

I would like to predict the sound power level inside a pipe with high velocities as well as 1 meter away from it. I will appreciate your useful comments and replies.

For your information, I searched and found the attached pdf. I used its equation for flow noise caused by turbulence; however, I believe it is not generating realistic results. For instance, I read somewhere that for a 0.3 m diameter pipe and flow velocity of 4 m/s, the measured sound level at a distance of 0.2 m is around 70 dB. I used these flow conditions and the equation predicted sound level of 46 dB inside the pipe which is obviously under-predicting. Please comment.

Also, this equation does not account for the presence of solid particles in the flow; how one should modify this equation to capture their impact on the sound level?
