clone part in nx7
clone part in nx7
(OP)
Hello all,
Imagine I have assembly of two identical parts PART-0001. Later on, working with this assembly I need one of my parts to became PART-0002 due to changes (I think it is quite common situation in designing process). So I need assembly with two separate parts PART-0001 and PART-0002 (so it means, that I need two separate *.prt files). What is the fastest way to do this?
For eg now I do that way: just make copy->paste and rename manualy *.prt file using file explorer, and then in NX I do replace component. But sometimes it is not very handy.
Thanks
NX 7
win 7 64bit.

Looks like there is an improvement in NX8; but while you are still on NX7, your workflow seems as good as any.

RE: clone part in nx7
What we were taught was to create a new part in your assembly (PART-0002) and then import the part (PART-0001) into this part. You now have 2 parts that are identical but are actually 2 unique parts. Then you would remove the component (PART-0001) that you wanted changed from your assembly.
I hope this makes sense. Make unique in NX8 will make this much easier.
