transmitter + controller for a dP flow measurement

transmitter + controller for a dP flow measurement

Hi,

We would like to replace our dP measurements for a venturi flow measurement. There are 4 measurement venturi's in a reaction zone measuring the air flow to 4 reactors. It is difficult to connect these new systems with our old DCS system.

Would the following be possible?

- a new dP transmitter on each venturi which has an integrated controller to control the air damper. the set point in m³/h is send to the transmittor/controller (wireless or 4-20mA) from our DCS system.
Is there industrial equipment available to do this (Emmerson, Honeywell,...)

Thanks in advance!

best regards,

RE: transmitter + controller for a dP flow measurement

What and why are things like an analog 4-20 DP transmitter and a damper acutator positioner difficult to connect to your old DCS'? Isn't the wiring already in place?

I'm told Foundation Fieldbus (FF) devices have a PID function block. But when you do things with FF, all the pieces have to be FF: field instrument, valve positioner, DCS. FF is a different way of doing business.

You could always do the pre-DCS analog way: local PID controller, analog DP transmitter, analog valve actuator positioner.

fisher ROC flowboss or controlwave can do it
