TeamCenter 8 Save As

TeamCenter 8 Save As

TeamCenter 8 Save As

(OP)
I am currently using TeamCenter 8 and NX6. I have an Item with Item Revision A. I also have a New parametric model with drawings of the same design saved as a different Item and Revision. I would like to update the first item with the parametric model and completed drawings as Rev B.

When I do a Save As, NX wants to create a new Item. I want to Save As to an existing Item, but as the next revision. Cloning doesn't work either.

Is there a way to do this in TeamCenter?

RE: TeamCenter 8 Save As

You need select File Saveas then there will be a drop down box in a dialogue box that will show up, and you can select New revision in the drop down box. Give your part a new revision. Then you hit ok and if you are using the master model approach to your drawings, another box will pop after you hit ok and this box will ask you to bring the drawings with your new revision of the part.

No, you don't understand. I want to save is as the next revision of a different, pre-existing item.

Oh ok sorry I could not help.

RE: TeamCenter 8 Save As

This was originally a show stopper for us moving to NX6, a couple of years ago. Siemens Development wrote a NX Open program to allow this to work. I have heard that they made this program available to others.

I believe it is called Duplicate Dataset. Try getting a hold of GTAC.

Contains.
duplicatedataset.dll
duplicatedataset.dlx

Another option is to write your own NX Open application to accomplish this, as the NX Open calls will allow you to do what you are asking. It is pretty simple. Just need to encode a file name, and then Save-as to encoded filename.

RE: TeamCenter 8 Save As

You have parts 123/A and 456/A and you want to save 123/A as 456/B? The way we used to do that is to rev up 456/A to 456/B, delete everything in the file and export the geometry from 123/A to 456/B. I think the save could be accomplished by exporting 123/A out of TC, rename it to 456 and import it back into TC using the "use existing name" and "new revision" options.

cowski
How would I move the drawings over and associate them with the model?
