Small drill needed. Where can I find?

Small drill needed. Where can I find?

Small drill needed. Where can I find?

(OP)
Hi everyone,

Where can I find a .055 drill bit and maybe even a reamer? any websites out there with really small tooling? Sandvik doesn't offer anything this small. the smallest is .059.
I am machining kovar material so it will have to have some kind of coating on it as well. I will be using a mazak QTN100MSY machine.

thanks,

Try dental drill supplier, high quality but little bit more expensive.

+1 for Guhring, I dont use any other brand now in the drills, or cnc mill, they are fantastic.

Brian,

RE: Small drill needed. Where can I find?

Remember, it's all relative.

Ø0.055" isn't small at all. As far as I'm concerened that's a pretty regular drill.

We have had great success using OSG drills.

Also www.harveytool.com makes wonderful "tiny" tooling.

One of my college professors who had consulted for both Caterpillar and Boeing used to tell us that sheetmetal thickness was relative.
To Boeing, it was sheet if under 1/8". Over that was plate.
At Cat, sheet was up to 3"!
