Customize Sheet Template in drafting

Customize Sheet Template in drafting

(OP)
Hi,
Is there a way to use customized sheet template? I opened A4-views-template.prt from UGII>templates in NX6.0 and put border layers to visible and then edited table, border lines, etc. Then I saved it to A4-views-template_modified.prt in templates folder. However, when I navigate it in UG, there's a lock sign on the file and I can't locate the file in My Computer.
How can I use this modified file in drafting? How can I make it show up in the list when I create new drawing file? Or how can I let it show up in Edit Sheet dialogue?

If I'm doing something completely wrong, what should I do to create a new template? Thank you very much!

Best,
Charles

RE: Customize Sheet Template in drafting

The easiest way is to go to where you installed NX and look in folder...

...\UGII\templates

...but first make a copy of this folder (just in case) and put it somewhere safe. Now in the original folder, open the various part files in NX, make your changes/edits and save them without changing any names.

Now when you run NX you should get your edited versions of the templates instead of what you saw originally.

Thank you. May I ask what's the difference between A4-views-template and A4-views-sheet-template?

Thanks.

I think you will find that they ones with the 'sheet' in the name is that they are used for adding additional sheets to an existing drawing.

Hi, John,
When I try to modify A4-views-template.prt file, it says it's modified, Read Only. When I want to save the file, it says No write access.
I went to property dialogue of folder "templates" and the Read-Only box is blotted. Every time I untick Read-only Apply the change, when I open the property dialogue again, it still says Read-Only.

You'll probably have to get someone in your systems group to open up the protections for you so that you can change the files.
