Does anyone know where I can purchase commercial-off-the-shelf high power Dsub cable assemblies (5W5, 7W2, etc.)?
Thanks!

I don't recognize your designations 5W5 etc., but the first place I'd look for any kind of industrial COTS cables would be newark.com . I'm always amazed at the gazillions of different things they have there. Perhaps also allied.com IIRC.

Another option would be to purchase the right kind of cable and fab up the connectors with some of those easy-to-connect-with-screws-in-terminal-blocks (but pricey) Phoenix Contact D-Sub connector housings.

How many do you need?
Any cable harness house can make them to your specs rather quickly..

I've checked every distributer I can think of, and no one has them. I'm looking at very small quantities, ones and twos per year. That's the reason why I'd like to get these off the shelf, so I don't need to buy a bulk reel of cable, nor do I need to pay for the labor to assemble. I'm also afraid harness houses will charge me an arm and a leg for non-recurring engineering fees...

Blackbox.com.

I was shocked at the reasonable pricing at which Blackbox has made cables for me. I, too, recommend calling them.
