Huey-Test according to ASTM-A 262 Prac. C
Huey-Test according to ASTM-A 262 Prac. C
(OP)
Dear Colleagues,
I am planning a series of Huey Tests with different materials, each material (a piece of tube) with two different heat treatments (EB welding and oven treatment for 5h at 1500°F).
So according to the standard, it is not allowed to put 2 specimen in one vessel for Huey testing.
I agree on that because of the autocatalytic nature of the reaction,
but is it ok to put two specimen with the same chemical composition in the same testing vessel (only difference is heat treatment)?
Because I have 20 different alloys, so it makes a big difference for me if I have to test 20x or 40x 4x48h with only one Huey testing device.
thanks very much for your help in advance
Best regards
Feldmann

What you need to do is use the minimum sample size practical, and then the smallest flasks and minimum test solution that is appropriate.
Trust me. If you double the samples up you will end up retesting at least half of them to verify the results. It is easier to do it right the first time.

But I only want to understand it - what could cause the problems here?
Thanks and best regards

The non-corroding sample may either be attacked or protected by the changes depending on what they are. This would skew test results.
