Chinese Pipe Standards (GB/T 12459 & HG 20592)

Chinese Pipe Standards (GB/T 12459 & HG 20592)

Anyone familiar with Chinese Pipe Standards GB/T 12459 & Flange Standard HG 20592? The ANSI store offers the GB/T 12459 standard in Chinese text only.

We are mainly trying to find dimensional information for modeling purposes. I am guessing the pipe and fittings match up with ISO 4200 (ASME dimesions with metric wall thicknesses) based on the information I have. We are more concerned with the flanges dimensional information (HG 20592). Whether this standard references ASME or ISO standard dimensioning and what specific standard.

Web searches only reference Chinese pipe and fitting suppliers.

RE: Chinese Pipe Standards (GB/T 12459 & HG 20592)

We have been successful in using Chinese pipe - ONLY after we sent a metallurgical engineer over there and showed them how to make it and test it.

ALWAYS randomly test their product - as we do here. Results since then have been great!!

MiketheEngineer - Thanks for the input.

In this case, the pipe is being used in China. The specifications are coming from a Chinese Engineer, hence the Chinese Standards. We are doing some pipe design and need somehow to review the specifications / requirements of the referenced standards.

I have some in "Chinglish", but not the dimensional standards.

Just do what I used to do when designing structures for fabrication in Japan using Japanese steel sections. Design using American shapes and they will pick the closest match. The best thing about that is it teaches you that 8 significant figures has always been necessary only in your imagination.

What would you be doing, if you knew that you could not fail? Ans. Gov lobbyist.

Agree with finding "closet" match - BUT TEST IT - the metallurgy of the metal must be right on!! or at least very close

RE: Chinese Pipe Standards (GB/T 12459 & HG 20592)

dear pulp1:

HG20592 follow PN series, the include SI and English.
but totally follow Euro system.

GB/T 12459 : as for pipe whose DN is less than DN800, They are same as B16.9 totally.

it is not easy to explain with simple words, if any question, you can type it in here and I can give you some explanation.

good luck.
